POLOKWANE – The legal battle for Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, popularly known as Shebeshxt, enters its most critical phase today as his trial officially begins at the Polokwane Regional Court.
The 31-year-old "Rato Laka" hitmaker faces a staggering nine charges, including attempted murder, assault, malicious damage to property, and the possession of an unlicensed firearm. The trial follows a string of failed bail applications. Most recently, the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court dismissed his bid for release, ruling that he failed to prove exceptional circumstances.
The musician had pleaded with the court for release to seek specialized medical attention for his right leg, specifically an Open Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF) procedure. However, the court maintained that the star must remain in custody as the state moves to present its evidence against him.
