Lephalale authorities are officially seeking the public's assistance in locating Cynthia Kgwete, 37, following a daring act of vehicle finance fraud that has left Nedbank reeling. The case, registered in early February, highlights a sophisticated level of deceit involving falsified employment records and ghost addresses.
Investigations suggest that Kgwete posed as a legitimate client to secure finance for a high-value Ford Ranger Double Cab. To bypass bank security, she allegedly submitted a portfolio of fraudulent documentation, misrepresenting her income and professional status to guarantee an immediate approval. Once the "bakkie" was released from the dealership, the suspect’s true intentions became clear.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for the Limpopo SAPS, revealed a chilling detail: the vehicle's tracking device was deactivated and removed almost immediately after it left the floor. With zero installments paid and the provided Gauteng work and residential addresses turning out to be fabrications, a warrant of arrest has been formally issued.
