In a story that sounds like a horror movie, SAPS divers have made a chilling discovery inside the stomach of a massive crocodile euthanized near Komatipoort. While searching for a missing 59-year-old businessman, investigators found more than they bargained for.
Inside the beast were six sets of different Crocs and flip-flop shoes. Because plastic and rubber don't digest, the reptile’s stomach became a "lost and found" of potential past victims.

The businessman, identified in reports as Gabriel Batista, was swept away at a low-lying bridge a week ago. Captain Potgieter performed a "heroic and dangerous" operation, being lowered from a helicopter to retrieve the 500kg predator.
THE INVESTIGATION: DNA tests are underway to confirm if the remains belong to Batista, while police are now looking to match the shoes with other missing person reports in Mpumalanga.
