KWAZULU-NATAL – A devastating head-on collision on the R33 Kambula Road has claimed the lives of four individuals, leaving the local community in a state of mourning. The horrific crash occurred on Sunday evening, resulting in a scene described by first responders as chaotic and emotional.

Emergency teams from the KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service arrived to find wreckage scattered across the roadway. Despite the rapid intervention of paramedics, four victims had already sustained fatal injuries and were certified dead at the scene. Authorities are currently in the process of notifying the next of kin before releasing the identities of the deceased.

"The wreckage was extensive, and the environment was highly emotional. Our priority was to secure the scene and attend to any survivors trapped within the vehicles." — Emergency Personnel Statement.

Miracle Rescue: Child Stabilized

Amidst the tragedy, rescuers discovered a critically injured child trapped inside one of the mangled vehicles. In a high-stakes operation coordinated with Fire and Rescue services, the child was successfully extricated and stabilized on the scene.

The young patient was rushed to a nearby hospital for advanced medical care. While the child's current condition remains unknown, medical teams are reportedly working tirelessly to ensure a recovery.

Investigation and Road Safety Concerns

Initial observations suggest that poor visibility or reckless driving may have contributed to the collision. However, SAPS and traffic authorities are continuing a full forensic investigation to determine the exact cause. Residents have previously raised concerns about this specific stretch of the R33, which has seen a high frequency of serious accidents.
