VHEMBE DISTRICT – Residents of Hamutsha Muungamunwe village are in a state of mourning and terror following the discovery of a 48-year-old woman’s body on Saturday morning, May 9, 2026. The victim was found brutally murdered in what appears to be a violent targeted attack.
Police were alerted to the scene at approximately 6:45 a.m. by local residents who stumbled upon a motionless body. Officers arrived to find the victim lying on her back, partially clothed. In a chilling detail, a pair of white trousers was found tightly wrapped around her neck, suggesting strangulation.

The crime scene revealed a struggle, with the victim's shoes and undergarments scattered several metres away. Forensic evidence noted visible trauma to the mouth and severe bruising across her back, neck, and buttocks. Currently, SAPS has launched an urgent murder investigation, though no arrests have been made and the motive remains a mystery.
