ROODEPOORT – What was supposed to be a quick stop for drinks at the Doory Bottle Store turned into a scene of absolute mayhem this weekend, leaving a local woman injured, a phone smashed, and a community demanding answers over allegations of blatant racism and assault.
THE SPARK: "PAYMENT DECLINED"
The drama began at the till when a female customer attempted to pay for her selection using her smartphone. Tension spiked instantly when the transaction declined twice. According to witnesses, the situation turned ugly not because of the money, but because of the conduct of the staff member behind the counter.
The cashier allegedly unleashed a wave of rudeness and racially insensitive remarks, belittling the customer as she struggled with the digital payment gateway.
THE BREAKING POINT
On the third attempt, the payment finally flashed "APPROVED." But by then, the emotional damage was done. Fed up with the abuse, the customer reportedly pushed the card machine back toward the cashier, calling out the racism she had just endured.
In her rush to exit the toxic environment, she accidentally knocked over a six-pack of alcohol, which shattered on the floor. While the woman reportedly asked her friend to go back inside and settle the bill for the broken bottles, the store owner wasn't waiting for an apology.
TILES FLY AND BLOOD SPILLS
The confrontation moved to the pavement where the owner allegedly intercepted the woman. What happened next was caught in a shocking viral video:
- A physical altercation broke out between the owner and the customer.
- The cashier reportedly jumped into the fray, escalating the violence.
- In a desperate act of frustration, the woman was seen throwing tiles at the owner.
By the time the dust settled, the woman was left with physical injuries and a shattered phone. Authorities are expected to investigate charges of assault and the circumstances leading to the brawl.
