Justice for Boingotlo: Neighbor Arrested After 16-Year-Old Girl Found Buried Near Stream
VRYBURG – The community of Matlhako 2 village has been left in deep mourning following the horrific discovery of the body of 16-year-old Boingotlo Makaota in a shallow grave. A 40-year-old man, the victim's neighbor, is in custody after his own brother handed him over to the police.
The grim series of events began on a Thursday night when neighbors reported hearing cries for help coming from the suspect's residence. Suspicions escalated the following morning when the suspect and an accomplice were seen pushing a wheelbarrow containing an unknown object toward a nearby stream.
A Brother’s Integrity Leads to Arrest
After a joint search operation between law enforcement and community members, Boingotlo’s body was exhumed near the stream. While police found the victim's clothing at the suspect's home, he had already fled the area. However, justice was swift as the suspect’s brother took the initiative to hand him over to the Pudimoe police on Saturday evening.
An accomplice has also been taken in for questioning as police piece together the final moments of the teenager's life. The North West Provincial Commissioner has labeled the incident a "heinous act of cowardice."
