LEKOMPO has been under what many now describe as a heavy dark cloud. Since the arrest of Shebe Maburna, it feels as though pain after pain has continued to strike the community, leaving artists, fans, and families struggling to find breath between the tragedies.
The sorrow began deeply with the loss of Dr Nel. Before that wound could heal, a tragic accident linked to Kharishma’s team claimed two lives and left the community shaken. As 2026 arrived, the industry hoped for a fresh start, but the cycle of heartbreak has only intensified.
Re ipotsisa gore naa re felela kae. Within just six months, so many lives have been lost or altered. The industry—from the dancers to the producers—is tired. The weight of the grief is becoming too heavy to carry alone.
Now more than ever, the Lekompo industry needs prayers. We need protection over our artists who travel long distances to entertain us. We need peace in the homes of those who have lost their loved ones. Re hloka dithapelo tša lena ka moka.
